Natural Light
Description
Natural light photography uses the sun as a light source. The pros of this type of photography are it minimizes the amount of gear and time to set up. The cons are it greatly reduces the angles that a photographer has to get proper exposure to ensure the eyes are well lit while maintaining proper exposure of the environment. This style has a tendency to be more uncomfortable for the model having to look in the direction of the sun or light source which in turn can cause unrelaxed eyes.
Flash Photography
Description
Flash photography is using strobes/flashes to obtain the ability to control the lighting source. The pros are this ensures proper or desired exposure throughout the picture and gives insurance that the eyes are well lit. Flash photography is highly used outdoors due to the flexibility it allows for creation, locations, and settings. Flash is generally more comfortable for the model simply not having to look in the same direction as the sun and can get a more natural look from the eyes instead of the squinted look as the eye naturally tries to shield from the sun. The cons are the extra gear and set up time.
